I was recently lucky enough to get into the Piece Bee With You foundation piecing bee… I’ve loved the blocks I’ve seen from other bees and I’m so excited to be in this one!
Charlotte was kind enough to let me in even though I’ve never foundation pieced before, so I thought I’d better hurry up and make a block to show that I can do it. :> I used During Quiet Time’s vintage tea kettle pattern (I bought a table runner kit and haven’t gotten around to it) and made this:
It looks funky, I know! I was trying to be bold with my choice of background fabrics, but I think it ended up looking a little crazy. I do think it’ll look less nuts if I put it together with a bunch of other blocks with bright colors, like my first teapot test block. Hopefully? But at least the kettle itself is sewn neatly…! The block’s actually got straight sides — it’s kind of hard to make it lie flat on grass.
And now for the dumpling portion of the post:
I made this for my sister-in-law; she planned a great birthday party for her daughter, and I wanted to make her a little what-a-great-mom-you-are present for party day. I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but I used a squirrel treasure map print that she really liked. And I serged the inside ends! Woot, Gracie Lou Freebush!
