I got very little done this past week, boo! I was sleepy, or something — I’d stay up to sew one night, then sleep through the next night, which meant I only sewed three nights. It’ll be nice when I can take advantage of caffeine pills and ZipFizz again, heh, heh, heh.

In Progress

Fox quilt
I did the quilting this week, and I fmq-ed the clouds that Kajsa Wikman suggested. They’re super cute! I was so mad while I was quilting, though! Some of my clouds came out okay:

Pretty frequently, though, I’d get skipped stitches. I’m almost positive that it was particularly when I was pulling the fabric straight towards me — maybe it was pulling the needle too far out of whack.

At first, when I got skipped stitches, I’d stop, rip some out, and start over to fix the bad bit. Then I got grouchy and either left them in or went back over them in a scribble:

I was getting super frustrated because, other than the skipped stitches, I thought my stitch length looked pretty okay. Booooo.

Finished!

Bunnies
The only thing I finished this week was this pair of silly bunnies. Cosmo misplaced his and kept trying to steal Sunshine’s, so I made him a new one. The other is for Dawnybear.

This is not really germane, but my mom’s cute plant that was in the picture of my first set of bunnies was stolen (along with a bunch of other plants) on Christmas night! Meanies!

  1. The clouds are so CUTE! I had that same problem with my fmq and the problem was my thread! My machine only likes certain thread and will burp if she does not like it!

  2. Those clouds are ADORABLE! I hope you can figure out why you were getting skipped threads, they’re just too cute not to do!

  3. The clouds are too cute! Perhaps the skipped stitches are from a needle that needs changing? I had the same problem with straight line quilting, and the problem disappeared after a needle change.

So sad about the pilfered plants. On Christmas, no less!

  4. Your quilting issues are like deja vu for me! A new needle can really help with the skipped stitches. Your stitch length does look great!

  5. Nice work on your quilt….we all have skips once in awhile…..thread or needle or dirty machine….

  6. Sometimes I just pull on my quilt too fast and it really jumps like that. You are not alone!

    I love those bunnies…but wowza..plants stolen??? BOO!

  7. Stolen plants?! Omg, whats wrong with this world! The clouds are adorable, I love how its not perfect. Clouds are not perfect. Love it, nothing wrong with it :) the dolls are adorable as well!

  8. Love the bunnies, but giggling just a little at the scribbly bits on the clouds ;)

  9. Very nice! Your stitches look very good. The free motion looks so much better than mine. I heard that a new needle helps skipped stitches? Sorry about the plants and stuff… how stinky!
